The ELV Directive 2000/53/EC on end-of-Life vehicles is a European Union regulation that aims at improving the dismantling and recycling of vehicles by reducing its impact on the environment.
As a result, one target of the ELV directive directly applies to manufacturers and importers of vehicles. It is to prevent the use of toxic substances from the design stage. Therefore, the ELV Directive aspires to limit hazardous waste from vehicles placed into the European Union.
