OEHHA Molybdenum Trioxide and Indium Tin Oxide

California’s Proposition 65 list, also referred to as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is used to allow Californians to make informed decisions about their exposure to hazardous chemicals which may cause health issues such as cancer, reproductive harm, or birth defects.

Effective as of March 19, 2021, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has added two chemicals to California’s Proposition 65 List: Molybdenum Trioxide and Indium Tin Oxide.

The Takeaways to Comply with the New Prop. 65 Substances

Disclosure of the hazardous chemicals is often accomplished using physical and/or online warning labels which are specific to the possible exposure.

Examples include:

- Consumer product exposure

- Environmental exposure

- Occupational exposure

If this sounds applicable to your situation, a risk assessment may be necessary to determine Prop. 65 substances which have to be declared.
